Before use Guidelines:
The ground should be moist and soft, but never muddy or waterlogged, when using a turf cutter. The ideal condition is soft enough to insert a screwdriver without much effort . If the soil is too dry, it will create dust and cause the turf to crumble; if it is too wet, the machine will clog, lose traction, and cause damage.
- The "Screwdriver" Test: Water the lawn 1–2 days before cutting so the soil is soft but not saturated.
- Too Dry: Hard, dry soil creates excessive vibration, puts strain on the machine, and stops the turf from rolling up properly.
- Too Wet: If water is pooling or it is a "muddy quagmire," the machine's wheels will lose grip and fail to move forward.
- Best Time: Ensure there is some moisture in the soil, but the grass surface should be relatively dry for the best grip and to avoid creating a mud bath.
If the ground is extremely dry, water it heavily a couple of days before to allow moisture to penetrate deeply, rather than just wetting the surface more
